Serpentine Dance
As tambourines shake and the cicada chorus swells, I begin my dance in a wind swept temple court, stepping into the radiance of the Snake Queen’s immortal presence. Guided by the rhythms of my breath, I sway and spin on the rocky ground as she casts her spell and the sacred knots uncoil from the full length of my spine. Pulsing mantras, nasal modulations and melodic strains swirl forth as an undulating procession of full-breasted priestesses draw me into their ritual dance, their eternal trance. I reunite with my serpentine soul.
